Glenfinnan Wee Railways

Tucked beneath the historic Glenfinnan Station, a delightful new attraction is taking shape — the Glenfinnan Wee Railways. This exciting project features a 7¼-inch gauge miniature railway running through the woodland below the station, offering a charming new way to experience the site’s railway heritage.

All 200 metres of track are now laid, and the next step is to form a model railway club to help maintain, develop, and operate the line — as well as other model railways at the Glenfinnan Station site.

The miniature railway runs just below the Museum’s Dining Car, with the full-size West Highland Line passing above and the Viaduct Trail winding below — making it a perfect spot for railway enthusiasts and families alike. In future, it’s hoped the line will be used to demonstrate single-track railway operation and, once all safety requirements are met, may even offer ride-on experiences for visitors.

Alongside the miniature line, visitors can also enjoy our award-winning 00-gauge model railway, housed in a dedicated model hut. This detailed layout beautifully recreates Glenfinnan Station and its surroundings in miniature form.
